Principal's Message
Dear BridgePrep Academy of Greater Miamiparents, students, staff, and community members:

By way of introduction, my name is Mitzie Ortiz and I am very excited to be your new principal for the 2017-18 school year.

I was born in Miami, FL but raised in Venezuela. During my teenage years, I came back to Miami and attended McMillan Middle School and Braddock Senior High School. As a child, I always liked the idea of becoming a teacher. Therefore, I went on to continue my education at Florida National University and earned my Associate’s Degree in Elementary Education. I then continued my academic career and attended Carlos Albizu University fulltime where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.

The same year I completed my Bachelor’s degree,I began my teaching career as a 6th grade middle school teacher at Lincoln Marti Charter School. After completing my first year of teaching, I became the assistant principal for the school. After several months as the assistant principal, I was moved into a principal position at a struggling school. That year was incredibly challenging but very fulfilling as well. I believe in teamwork philosophy, coaching up my teachers, and providing a rigorous curriculum for all students. I believe these principles enabled me to realize the great academic gains we made that year.

After that success, I moved on to Bridgeprep Academy where I served as assistant principal at Village Green for one year and as principal at InterAmerican for four years. Bringing me here to BridgePrep Academy of Greater Miami, where I will continue to infuse a teamwork philosophy, coaching with my teachers, and providing a rigorous curriculum for all students.
At BridgePrep Academy of Greater Miami, I will be an instructional leader that guides and coaches our teachers to effectively instruct and lead our students towards their academic and personal goals, bond and communicate purposefully with our parents and community, and most importantly I will guide and influence our students to become positive and productive citizens of our worldly community.

I look forward to meeting and working with the great community of BridgePrep Academy of Greater Miami.

Educationally Yours,
Mitzie Ortiz
